Ryana Parks-Shaw is leading Kansas City with a clear vision for growth and opportunity for everyone. As Mayor Pro-Tem, she brings people to together to strengthen neighborhoods, expand housing and create paths for local businesses to succeed.

Elected in 2019 to serve Kansas City's 5th District, she quickly established herself as a leader who delivers real results for Kansas City. She took on critical issues like housing, fair wages, and public safety.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Ryana Parks-Shaw has deep roots in the city she serves. Ryana is a former union member, a longtime small business owner, and has over 30 years of experience as a health care executive. This background gives her a clear understanding of the challenges working families, local businesses, and communities face every day. Her commitment to Kansas City comes from a lifetime of calling it home and working to make it better for everyone who calls it home.
